The Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems Research (L-CAS) is an internationally recognised centre for applied autonomous systems research. This research aims to integrate various aspects of machines, computing, sensing and software to create intelligent systems capable of interacting with the complexities of the real world. ‘Autonomy’ refers to the ability of a system to solve tasks and handle situations unforeseen by the original designers of the system.

L-CAS specialises in the integration of perception, learning, decision-making and control capabilities in autonomous systems such as mobile robots and smart devices, together with the application of this research in fields including personal robotics, healthcare, food and agriculture, security, and intelligent transportation.
